Cake
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Mix until ingredients are blended.
Cream together the butter and sugar in a large bowl. Beat in eggs one at a time until well combined.
Mix in the vanilla extract and milk until blended.
Slowly add in the flour mixture until combined.
Divide the batter into two bowls. Add 1 tablespoon of pink food coloring to one bowl and 1 tablespoon of purple food coloring to the other.
Grease two 8-inch round cake pans with butter or nonstick cooking spray.
Pour the pink batter into one pan and the purple batter into the other.

Divide the frosting into two bowls. Add 1/2 tablespoon of pink food coloring to one bowl and 1/2 tablespoon of purple food coloring to the other.
Spread one color of frosting on each layer of the cake.
Stack the two layers of the cake on top of each other.
Frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting.
