Ingredients for Pink And Purple Cake
Cake
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons food coloring (divide into 1 tablespoon each of pink and purple)
Frosting
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon food coloring (divide into 1/2 tablespoon of pink and purple)
Instructions for Pink And Purple Cake
Cake
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Mix until ingredients are blended.
- Cream together the butter and sugar in a large bowl. Beat in eggs one at a time until well combined.
- Mix in the vanilla extract and milk until blended.
- Slowly add in the flour mixture until combined.
- Divide the batter into two bowls. Add 1 tablespoon of pink food coloring to one bowl and 1 tablespoon of purple food coloring to the other.
- Grease two 8-inch round cake pans with butter or nonstick cooking spray.
- Pour the pink batter into one pan and the purple batter into the other.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes before removing from the pans.
Frosting
- Cream together the butter and 1 cup of powdered sugar in a bowl until well blended.
- Mix in the milk and vanilla extract.
- Slowly add in the remaining 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar until combined.
- Divide the frosting into two bowls. Add 1/2 tablespoon of pink food coloring to one bowl and 1/2 tablespoon of purple food coloring to the other.
- Spread one color of frosting on each layer of the cake.
- Stack the two layers of the cake on top of each other.
- Frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting.
